That’s the Power of Care
Al-idris Bin Khairil Anuar
Senior Radiographer, Tan Tock Seng Hospital
Idris’ journey into the world of allied health began unexpectedly when he stumbled upon an advertisement for Parkway College’s Radiography course. Little did he know that this discovery would lead him to a rewarding and fascinating career.
From catheterisations to vascular studies, he works alongside a dynamic team of interventional radiologists and nurses, providing crucial image guidance during procedures for patients with various medical conditions.
One of the greatest joys for him is the lasting impact he leaves on patients, who remember him with smiles when they return for further procedures. Like a simple “Hey, it’s you again. I remember the last time you did the x-ray for me!” It is moments like these that are most valuable to him.
Once, he was rostered to perform X-rays in the Emergency department and was called to the resuscitation room where he was shocked to see that it was a close friend who got into a motorcycle accident. The experience deepened his commitment to the professionalism of his career as he saw first hand how his work helped save the life of someone he knew.
Looking to the future, Idris aspires to become an educator, believing in the power of sharing the knowledge of care and guiding the next generation.
As a diagnostic radiographer, he sees care as “the power to view what others can’t” a privilege he cherishes deeply.
