That’s the Power of Care

Lydia Quah
Nurse Clinician, Dover Park Hospice
As a junior college student, Lydia's involvement in community work and Red Cross activities sparked her passion to help others. She now works with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals as a nurse clinician at Dover Park Hospice to provide holistic palliative care, which caters to the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patients under her care.

Her biggest satisfaction is being able to care for patients and their families holistically and in a person-centred manner, which helps to provide comfort and dignity in the last phase of a patient’s life journey. One heart-warming memory was organising a solemnisation ceremony for a patient and her partner, fulfilling their dream of getting married.

Lydia’s aspirations go beyond direct patient care. She also wishes to contribute more through national policy development work to ensure the seamless transition of palliative patients across different care streams and affordable patient care in Singapore.

She believes that as a nurse, she has the power to create significant impact in the lives of patients and their families.
